OMG, HOW excited am I for this book?!? I LOVED Wither, like, love-love-loved it, and I have just been waiting for a cover reveal to put this one on a WoW post! So here are the details for Fever, the second book in Lauren DeStefano's Chemical Garden Trilogy:Author: Lauren DeStefano
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Release Date: February 21, 2012
Pages: 368
Excerpt: A breeze rolls up from the water, and I realize at once how numb the cold air and wet clothes have made me. We should find someplace to stay, but where? I sit up and take in our surroundings. There’s sand and rocks for several more yards, but beyond that I can see the shadows of buildings. A lone freight truck lumbers down a faraway road, and I think soon it’ll be dark enough for Gatherer vans to start patrolling the area with their lights off. This would be the perfect place for them to hunt; there don’t appear to be any streetlights, and the alleyways between those buildings could be full of scarlet district girls.
Gabriel, of course, is more concerned about the blood. He’s trying to wrap my palm with a piece of seaweed, and the salt is burning the wound. I just need a minute to take this all in, and then I’ll worry about the cut. This time yesterday, I was a House Governor’s bride. I had sister wives. At the end of my life, my body would end up with the wives who died before me, on a rolling cart in my father-in-law’s basement, for him to do only he knows what.
But now there’s the smell of salt, sound of the ocean. There’s a hermit crab making its way up a sand dune. And something else, too. My brother, Rowan, is somewhere out here. And there’s nothing stopping me from getting home to him.

So yeah, how freaking amazing does this sound? And we know that the writing is going to be mind-blowingly awesome because Lauren is so talented :) And OK, I'm not super-thrilled with the cover design like I was for Wither, but c'mon, it's still going to be sa-weet. Ah! I can't get over my excitement for this one! Now I just have to wait for February to roll around...

ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW!
Great choice! Although I prefer the cover for Wither more than this cover. I don't think the brightness really matches. Oh well! Thanks for stopping by. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that those are the best covers ever! I have an ARC of Wither but have yet to read it.
ReplyDeleteI love the girl's dress on the cover! But I think that Wither's cover was a little bit more stunning.
ReplyDeleteHere is my WOW:http://www.teenbookfanatics.com/2011/08/waiting-on-wednesday-28-daughter-of.
It's not as gorgeous as the Wither cover, but it's great that they kept the theme the same :)
ReplyDeleteGreat WOW choice, Lea!

ReplyDeleteWonderful!
I still haven't read Wither yet, but I can't wait to get started and Fever looks just as awesome! Great pick :).
ReplyDeleteI know it will be awesome, but I don't adore the cover. Ah well. I'd read it even if the cover were so bad I had to paper it over with a brown bag.
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with the cover for Fever. It's so broken and beautiful, all at the same time.
